On the outside, the budget looks like a smart and responsible budget. One example of this is the Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC). In it you can get 15% of your expenses between $1000 to $10,000 back in a tax credit. HRTC has a time limit of a year. It will provide a stimulus for the economy because it will cause people to do their renos now, providing jobs for a lot of those in construction. This is one of the many measures it contains. There are many other measures similar to this that will help stimulate the Canadian economy.
The budget comes with a nice little present to Canadians, a 34 million dollar deficit for this year. Does the spending and the revitalization of the Canadian economy justify the deficit? I think so. However, I am disappointed that they are spending this much, I think it is a little extreme. What does reassure me is the time brackets (usually one or two years). Over all I think this budget is a good one for the time we live in. We now are waiting for what the Liberals will say, they are the deciding factor.
